Prayer Ministry and Prayer List

"Pray for me.  Pray for my friend."  "I will."  Exchange of these simple words occurs everywhere and often among people of faith.  At Emmanuel we learn every week the names of those who request our prayers as a congregation.  As individuals many of us, perhaps most of us, pray often throughout the week for those on the service lists and for others.

Under the aegis of the Pastoral Care Commission a Prayer Ministry has evolved.  Its participants commit to daily prayer for those on the service lists and for all others who request it.  Within the group of ministers there is a small number who, at the rector's or an individual's request, pray in absolute confidentiality for those who feel that is important.

Prayer ministers urge the congregation to let Elaine Carleton (706-353-8017) know of those who need prayer, making sure that those in need have given their permission.  Requests are passed along quickly by phone or email so that prayers can begin as soon as possible.

Anyone who would like to be a Prayer Minister, accepting the commitment to daily prayer, should also contact Elaine.  The Prayer Ministry definitely subscribes to the view, "More is better."

One more thing:  Prayer Ministers love updates so that prayer can be intensified or, better yet, so that petitions can become thanksgivings.

Please remember to call on Emmanuel's Prayer Ministers and keep our Ministry in your prayers - it is a wonderful manifestation of God's grace reflected among us.

If you would like to request prayers please contact the church office at 706-543-1294 or Elaine Carleton at 706-353-8017 or email .
