Minutes of the Called Vestry Meeting

Emmanuel Episcopal Church

September 2, 2009

Present:  Father Robert Salamone, Anne Brightwell, John Becker, Joe Clements, Phillip Cofer, Curt Collier, Dee Forester, Chuck Galis, Erwin Greene, Matthew Hicks, Vince Howard, Matt Humphrey, Marty Kemp, Nancy McDuff, Naomi Norman, Lisa Yarn

The meeting was called to order by Fr. Robert at 6:35 pm.

Fr. Robert thanked everyone for making changes in their schedules to have all Vestry members present.  He offered a prayer for wisdom and then turned the meeting over to Senior Warden Naomi Norman.

Naomi read the statement affirmed by the Vestry in April 2009, “The Vestry is committed to a capital campaign and is moving forward on the preparations.”  She asked for a vote to reaffirm this statement and it was supported unanimously.

Much discussion followed concerning plans for going ahead with the capital campaign.

Motion:  Nancy moved that the Vestry hire Rob Townes to take on Phase 2 of the capital campaign.

The motion was seconded by Erwin and was defeated on a vote by consensus.

Fr. Robert said he would like to meet with Naomi in the immediate future to come up with a plan for our next steps.  Naomi said that it would be reported to the congregation that the Vestry and Emmanuel are moving forward with the capital campaign and are in the planning process.

The meeting was closed with a prayer and adjourned at 8:32 pm.
