Choirs at Emmanuel

The Emmanuel Choir is looking for singers of all ages and experience levels. This is an opportunity to make new friends, learn new musical skills, and participate in worship in a very personal and meaningful way. No audition is required; anyone who likes to sing is welcome!

Choirs at Easter, 2005

Emmanuel’s Choir is open to both adults and children aged 9 years and up.  Emphasis is placed both on musical instruction—using the Royal School of Church Music training materials—and on music as a liturgical ministry of the church.  The schedule for the Christmas 2007 Term (August 29, 2007January 13, 2008) is as follows:

Wednesday Evenings:  Ages 9-15 rehearse from 6:40-7:20 pm.  Ages 16 and up rehearse from 7:30-9:00 pm.

Sunday Mornings:  Warm-up for all ages at 9:45 am.

During the Summer months, the choir takes a break from Wednesday evening rehearsals and rehearses at 9:15 am on Sunday mornings.

There are many benefits to belonging to Emmanuel’s choir. They include:

• The opportunity to participate in an important church ministry

• Free music instruction

• Small group work in music theory, sight-singing, and ear training

• Regular performance of the finest sacred music drawn from a large repertoire

• Concert opportunities

• Personal growth in an environment of teamwork and enjoyment

• The reassurance that your time or your child’s time is being well spent not only learning how to sing, but also developing broader skills of self discipline and commitment which are essential to success in any walk of life.

F.A.Q.

Who can sing?

Membership in the choir is open to both adults and children aged 9 and up.  The only requirements are a second grade reading ability, an interest in music, enthusiasm for singing, and love for the Lord.

Is there an audition?

No. Singers of all levels of ability are welcome and encouraged to participate.

As a singer do I, or does my child always need to attend?

There is an expectation that attendance will be nearly 100%.

What are the choirs singing this term?

We will sing a wide repertoire of music by composers from across the world, both men and women, from plainchant to the present day.

How do I join?

For more information about the music program, or to enroll yourself or your child in one of the choirs, please contact Joe Napoli, Director of Music at (706) 546-0023.
