Catechesis of the Good Shepherd News
It is time to register your child to be a part of the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd for the 2008-2009 Sunday School year. All children who are ages 3 (by September 1, 2008) through kindergarten are welcome to join this wonderful approach to Christian formation. Please contact me at sundayschool@emmanuelathens.org and leave the following information:

- Class entering in the fall

- Names of both parents
- Email address
To have accurate records, I would like returning children to register as well as new 3 year olds.
Vestry Nominating Committee
It is time to call the Vestry Nominating Committee to select a slate of candidates for the 2008 Vestry election. If you are interested in serving on the nominating committee or would like to nominate someone else to serve on the committee, please contact Naomi Norman ( ; 706-208-0268). Please note that we are not yet asking for nominees for the Vestry slate, simply for suggestions of people to serve on the nominating committee.

FREE 8 x 10 Portrait and FREE Church Directory - Let’s have 100% participation in our new church pictorial directory. Appointment sheets are in the hall outside the church office. Dates: July 21 & 22 and August 14, 15, & 16. Many portrait options: casual poses, black & white, & touch ups. Portraits will be taken in the Common Room with the opportunity to view your proofs immediately following your appointment. Thanks to Olan Mills who’ll be making reminder phone calls to each family. Outreach News
At their May 28, 2008 meeting, the Vestry approved the MEMC proposal for Emmanuel to serve as the principal builder for a Habitat for Humanity house, beginning in July of 2008. In addition, the Vestry approved the proposal to spearhead the development of a 7 house neighborhood, with a projected start date of July 2009. Information about how you can become involved in the Habitat 2008 build will soon appear on the Extended Ministries portion of the website (click on the Volunteer Opportunities link).

The Health Ministry Survey responses indicated that the parish would like more ‘spirituality’ and prayer in their Health and Wellness life. We will look for ways to do that.
